YUMA MURAL ARTIST
INSPIRED BY THE ANCIENTS

About the Artist

Bette Weimar descended from many generations of artists from both sides of her family. Her father's ancestors were from Germany's Bauhaus in it's early days and her mother's influence is from a Scotch Irish and Choctaw heritage. Born in 1958, Bette took to art as soon as she was able to hold a crayon. Not getting into too much trouble for marking on the furniture and walls she managed to turn this into a profession!  Throughout her childhood, Bette developed an appreciation for her majestic surroundings. Growing up at Cape Kennedy she recalls painting oil and canvas next to her parents at their easels. The subject was an evening rocket launch from NASA with a river and palm trees in the foreground. Years of artistic expression were intertwined with training in the medical field through the military, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Northern Arizona University with a degree in art and a decade teaching in the public school system. Yet, now she finds herself circling back to Yuma and painting a Harrier jet with a river and palm trees in the foreground.  Aerospace is not the only genre that she enjoys to portray, fantasy, historical, nature and spiritual themes abound in many of her chosen mediums. She now uses environmentally friendly paints and jokes that with art you can "Go Green" with any color!
